About Us

We’re “berry” excited for you to see the new exhibits at Discover Cranberries! With the help of family, friends, area cranberry growers and others, we’ve updated the museum to showcase Wisconsin’s cranberry growing heritage.

Discover Cranberries traces its beginnings to the Cranberry Expo, a museum and gift shop, opened in 1989 by the Clinton and Ellen Potter family on their cranberry marsh east of Warrens.

In 2001, the Potter family donated the contents of the museum to the Wisconsin State Cranberry Growers Association hoping that the organization could grow the museum to the next level.

The museum moved into the former Union Cranberry Company warehouse in downtown Warrens in 2004, through a partnership with the Warrens Cranberry Festival and was renamed the Wisconsin Cranberry Discovery Center.

The Cranberry Discovery Center welcomed visitors from across the U.S. and foreign countries for 18 years. But the museum struggled to recover from the impacts of COVID 19 and overall economic conditions. In 2022 the museum’s board of directors voted to close the museum.

But we and others felt Warrens – as the Cranberry Capital of Wisconsin – still needed to have a cranberry museum. Local cranberry growers offered to loan us items to display and volunteers have been working hard on creating all new exhibits.

The museum is housed in the lower level of our building which was built in 1900 and used for many years as a cranberry warehouse. The upper floor is home to our Cranberry Country Café and Gift Shop.

The gift shop features Wisconsin-made food products, like cranberry mustard, salsa, jams and candies, along with cranberry wines from several Wisconsin wineries. We also have locally made soaps, hand lotions and more. Plus, we’ve been adding clothing, jewelry and home décor.

In our old-fashioned ice cream parlor, you can have a dish of cranberry ice cream custom made exclusively for us, along with several non-cranberry choices.

If you’re looking for a bite to eat, we serve breakfast and lunch Tuesday through Sunday. On Fridays, we’re open late to offer our popular Friday Fish and Steak Fry. Be sure to follow our Facebook page to see our weekday lunch specials.

We hope to see you soon!
