Spring has arrived at the Wisconsin Cranberry Discovery Center and has us all thinking about warmer weather, picnics, graduation parties, weddings and family reunions. While celebrating with family and friend why not share your favorite cranberry salads.
April 1st marks the beginning of our 2nd quarter recipe contest. The theme for the contest, running April 1 – June 30, is “Cranberry Salads”. We want to see your fabulous salad recipes using cranberries in any form. From the cranberry side salad to cranberry dessert salads, the recipe possibilities are endless. We can’t wait to see your creative cranberry family favorites.
The winners receive special prizes from the Wisconsin Cranberry Discovery Center and will have their recipes published in our “Cranberry Chatter” newsletter and on our website. Please use our online form to submit your recipe and be sure to include all information necessary to successfully recreate your recipe. Our judges are anxiously awaiting your “Cranberry Salad” submissions!
“Cooking Light with Cranberries” proved to be a popular recipe contest! We had many delectable entries to choose from – so many amazing recipes, in fact, that we had to pick FOUR winners instead of our usual three. This is most definitely a win/win situation for those that submitted recipes and for you, dear reader.
Our contest participants were asked for recipes that were considered “light” – 500 calories or less per serving for the purposes of this quarter’s theme. Of course, the finished product needed to use cranberries and be DELICIOUS despite their “light” status. Congratulations to all four of our winners for tickling the tummies of our test kitchen tasters and thank you to everyone who took the time to submit a recipe. And please, keep the recipes coming in our current recipe contest! You continue to delight us with your creativity and general yumminess.
In a tie for first place are:
Donna Beck of Bonney Lake, WA for her “Spicy Fresh & Dried Cranberry Curried Chicken” and
Penny Langer of Camp Douglas, WI for her “FetaCran Turkey Wrap“
In second place is: Lily Kayte of Gainesville, FL for her “Wilted Carrot Cranberry Slaw”
And in third place is: Jayne Hanna of Mekoryuk, AK for her “Good for You Granola.”
All four of the winners will receive special prizes from the Wisconsin Cranberry Discovery Center. All the winning recipes can be viewed in full by clicking here: 2013 2nd Quarter Recipe Contest Winners

"Such a fun place to spend the day! We explored the shop, toured the museum, and snacked on cranberry ice cream and cranberry coffee. LOVE IT!"
"I am sorry but I do not have time to write a review praising your products, BECAUSE I am too busy enjoying them. My favorite is "Wisconsin Wilderness Cranberry Mustard", trust me this can make EVERYTHING taste better. Thank you very much."
