Spiced Cranberry Apple Cider

Jeanette Harmel of Tomah submitted this cider recipe, which is perfect on a chilly fall afternoon.

  • 2 quarts apple cider
  • 1 quart water
  • 1/2 cup sweetened dried cranberries
  • 12 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 teaspoon whole cloves, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons whole allspice
  • 2 oranges, sliced

In a large saucepan, combine all the ingredients except the orange slices. Heat thoroughly, but do not boil. Add most of the orange slices, reserving a few to use as garnish. Serve warm.

“Instead of using a saucepan, I use a large coffee pot to make this cider. Put all the spices in the basket and perk the cider and water like coffee,” says Jeanette.
