Cranberry Cream Cheese Salsa

Pam Kelly of Hermitage, Tennessee, was the 2nd-place winner in our May 2009 Crantastic Appetizers contest with her entry for Cranberry Cream Cheese Salsa. “This is a great appetizer for any type of event. My family always wants me to bring it to any potluck or party we have,” Pam wrote.

  • 1 16-ounce can whole berry cranberry sauce
  • 1/2 red onion, chopped
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 1 bunch cilantro
  • Zest of one lime
  • Juice of one lime
  • 1 12-ounce package cream cheese, softened

Remove the cilantro leaves from the stems and chop. In a mixing bowl, combine the cranberry sauce, onion, jalapeno pepper, cilantro, lime zest and lime juice. Refrigerate for a least 1 hour or overnight.

To serve, spread over softened cream cheese with your choice of tortilla chips or crackers.
